If you've got clothes lying around at the back of your closet that you're never going to wear again but can't quite fathom throwing away, Trade Me Secondhand Spin is here to help. On Saturday, March 2 and Sunday, March 3, the online marketplace will be launching a luxury laundromat in Auckland's Newmarket made up of different stations to press, steam and photograph pre-loved pieces.

The pop-up space will have everything you need to get your clothes sale-ready, not just to get rid of that musty closet smell but to make sure you create the best listing possible. For example, the photography station has a variety of fun props to make your personal photoshoot unique, as well as Trade Me experts standing by to provide tips on how to make your listings stand out from the rest.

The team at Secondhand Spin encourages sellers to bring along one to two pieces of clothing or accessories (as opposed to a huge haul) in order to get through all the eager sellers, as the pop-up is open for one weekend only from 10am–4pm both days.

Trade Me launched Secondhand Spin after they conducted their Circular Economy report which showed that, on average, Kiwis have up to 11 pieces of clothing lying around, never to be worn again. The photography wall at the laundromat was inspired by findings from the same report that indicated 90 percent of New Zealanders were more likely to purchase something that had a clean, crisp listing.

According to Trade Me's average listing price, sellers can make around $300 from offloading their good quality pieces on the website, so get on down to Newmarket.
