The Corner and Dazza's Pies

There's nothing quite like a creamy crayfish pie and an ice-cold pint.

A stalwart in Remuera's pub scene, The Corner will be celebrating the upcoming Warriors season with two of the best ways to do so: a pie and a pint. The rugby league season kicks off this March, and if you're more focused on the food than the football, The Corner is the place.

From Friday, March 15–Sunday, March 17, The Corner will be serving up pies, cooked by none other than Darren Jarrett, otherwise known as @dazza_cooked on Tik Tok. Jarrett has gained an enthusiastic following for whipping up unique pies on social media, with creations like a whitebait fritter pie, sweet peach pie and even a vegan cheeseburger pie — all while wearing his beloved Warriors jersey.

Jarrett has created a special pie menu just for The Corner which includes a slow-cooked braised beef cheek and cheese pie; a sweet, spicy BBQ pork pie finished off with crunchy crackling; and a creamy chicken pie filled with a rich mushroom and parmesan sauce. For the vegetarian footy fans, Jarrett has also whipped up a curry pie with a kumara and coconut dahl filling.

There's also a special pie on offer for game day on Saturday, March 16: a decadent crayfish pie paired with a white wine sauce. As for the drinks, The Corner has a rotating selection of craft beers on tap as well as a full cocktail and wine menu.
